As the Exhibitions Coordinator at the Museum, Joel's tasks were many and varied, and included the daily maintenance of lighting and existing displays. While not responsible for the content of the exhibitions themselves, Joel was largely responsible for the design concept for each display. This included drawing plans, making models, preparing costings, the organising of staff and off-site contractors and suppliers, the physical construction of display structures and/or props and their delivery into the gallery space in a modular format - as well as the installation of information panels and signage, the positioning of artefacts in the cabinets and their mounting and security, so they could tell their story, and finally the lighting layouts as required for each separate exhibition.
