 At HRD (Heritage, Research, Display), we have the skills to empower you and develop the confidence to embark on practical hobby-related projects. We offer personal tuition in our purpose-built studio, tailored to your needs and with all tools and materials available on site.

Joel is a professional modelmaker who has worked with architects, engineers and designers. His experience includes film and television work and, until January 2022, employment at a national museum where he designed, produced and installed their displays. 

Over the years he has amassed a wealth of knowledge which he can impart in a time sensitive way. He understands the economies of time and is prepared to make our Hawke’s Bay studio available to you for a day. There’s lots of reasons to visit Hawke’s Bay, well known for its mild climate, many and varied wineries, Art Deco architecture, cycle trails, and locally produced fare.

For $300.00 (inclusive of GST), the team at HRD will, in a professional but relaxed manner, help you smooth out the learning curve – saving you frustration, time and money. Lunch is included.

Joel can offer assistance with accumulating skills which are transferable to business life, including help with research, planning, physical construction, painting and finishing, and the material technologies necessary to produce a high quality result in a range of areas, including:

Model kitsets, cars, planes, military, ships, Sci-Fi, wooden ships, railway scenery, wargaming scenery.
